Next for wizzFX

So, big news today about the future and what’s next for wizzFX…
I’ve kept relatively quite about this since it happened, but now is the time to explain. A few weeks before writing this post, I resigned from Capital and I posted this across social media:

People who know me, will know what 2015 has been like for my family and that this caused me to re-examine my career path and goals because of these events. This led me to the decision to resign.
I was not pushed. I chose to leave because I could not see a future for me at the brand where I would be able to realise my revised goals and career path. Creativity is a cornerstone of my make-up, and I want to embark on a new direction where I will be able to realise these with freedom.
Great news is, I’ve found somewhere.
At the time of publishing this post, it’s circulating around on various websites including Radio Today that I have a new role. I’m off to join the team at Wise Buddah as Creative Director of the IMGR service, working with the awesome George Taylor (have you listened to him on this podcast by Ryan Drean?) and his team. I serious can’t wait to start.
Here’s the press release:
Chris Nicoll joins IMGR & Wise Buddah
Former Head of Production for Capital and Capital XTRA Chris Nicoll is to join the station branding service IMGR.
He takes up his new role as Creative Director from February 2016, bringing with him a wealth of talent and production experience to IMGR’s rapidly expanding Team.
Chris will work at IMGR HQ in London where he will lead the team and shape the IMGR production service for 2016 and beyond.
Chris says:
“IMGR has an incredibly talented and passionate group of people behind it, with a sound developed by super-producer George Taylor. I’m excited to be joining him and working alongside such a talented team further crafting the creative and sonic possibilities.”
Prior to joining Global Radio, Chris was producing imaging for one of New Zealand’s biggest CHR radio networks and current IMGR CHR station ZM, before leaving to spend 6 years at Capital.
As part of the agreement IMGR’s parent company, Wise Buddah Jingles will distribute Chris’s wizzFX productions.
Wise Buddah Jingles MD Paul Plant says;
“Chris has a great reputation as one of the world’s leading imaging producers and sound designers. He has incredible leadership skills and is an all round nice guy! It is an absolute honour to add him to our team and the creative opportunities that lie ahead are limitless. The addition of Chris to the team is a great proposition and will propel IMGR to the next level in 2016”.
IMGR is available in both CHR and Hot AC formats with new format services to follow in 2016.
IMGR is part of the Wise Buddah group of companies.
Now, wizzFX won’t stop – if you already have a deal with us we’ll be honouring it and you’ll still be able to get hold of the me and/or the services via the contact information on the site. But in the future we’ll be having our stuff distributed by Wise Buddah.
I want to thank the guys at Wise Buddah especially Mark Goodier, Paul Plant and George Taylor for welcoming me so warmly already. I can’t wait to get started.
