5 Simple Rules

Keep it Simple, Stupid. It’s an old adage, but especially true of any creative field. Especially radio today.
Just because we have more ways to service our content, doesn’t mean we should cloud our messages by explaining more. It’s more pertinent than ever to really keep things simple.
5 Simple Rules
I try to keep these in mind when I’m working on anything for Radio:
- Identify the one thing you are trying to say, or make someone do.
- Don’t be clever, if you can say something short and simple then do so.
- Use the language of your listener.
- Don’t over clutter your message with noise.
- Always be mindful of clarity of message, in scripting and audio sense.
I find these 5 simple rules help me add structure and purpose to whatever I’m creating. It forces me to “say what I mean, and mean what I say.” Keep these in mind when utilising some of my Systems for Creativity. They really help me craft work I’m proud of; like any of the work we craft at wizzFX.
